Manu and The Fish

Noah's Ark (Genesis), the Flood of Gilgamesh and Manu and the Fish are all similar due to the obvious that they are all Flood myths. A lot of people like to compare Noah's Ark and the Flood of Gilgamesh because the stories are very very similar. They both are floods that affect globally. The Floods occur because of man's sins and are intended for all of mankind. There is a "hero" in both story, Noah and Utnapishtim who are both ordered to build a boat. Noah is ordered by God directly while Utnapishtim is ordered through a dream. The biggest comparison is that animals of all species are brought onto the boat to save from the flood. In Genesis, the flood lasts a long duration of time while in The Flood of Gilgamesh, the flood lasts a short duration. Im both stories, the men use the birds to find land. In Manu and the Fish, Manu is a prince who saves a fish. This fish turns out to be the God, Brahma and in return for being saved, he warns him of the great flood that is coming. What's already similar is that Manu, just like Noah and Utnapishtim is being warned of the flood. The flood in this story is also going to be covering the whole earth and affecting everyone and everything like the other two flood stories. What's different in the approach of the warning is that Manu is being warned directly from a God due to a reward. Manu also fills his boat with animals like the other two stories. But instead of family, he fills his boat with seven wise men. In the other two stories, Noah and Utnapishtim use birds to find land while the fish pulls Manu's boat to safety. The other similarity between all three is that the reason for the floods was to "cleanse" all of humanity. It was a way to start over.

A lot of sexual assault/abuse is ignored or people are just unaware of the facts. In my event, I would stand in the main buildings of the school including dormitories. The students would be wearing all black because victims are hidden in the shadows. They would have duct tape over their mouths because victims feel like they can't speak. The students, male and female, would be holding signs with facts of sexual assault/abuse. The signs will also have numbers people can call for help. This would go on for a week. On the last day, there will be an assembly where the facts and signs will be brought together to educate students. Stories, poems, and testimonies will be shared. Tissues will be passed around and counselors will be available. There will also be a donation center where people can donate anything they can or want to. The proceeds will going to a philanthropy like RAINN where a huge chuck of every dollar goes to the victims/survivors.

Dear Odysseus,

Well well well, "Mr. Nobody". You got me drunk, had me passed out just so you and your men could escape me. I'm somewhat impressed. Hiding underneath my sheep? I would have never thought of that. But despite your successful escape plan, I hate you. I'm dreaming of eating you. I should have eaten you first. I'm sure you taste delicious. My father, Poseidon. He'll get you. He's a god, and though I'm not scared of any of the Gods, you should be scared of him. He'll cast a storm so big, you won't know what hit you. Watch out Odysseus. We are coming for you.

P.S WHY DID YOU HAVE TO BLIND ME! I GET ONE EYE AND YOU TOOK THAT AWAY FROM ME! I COULDN'T EVEN WRITE THIS MYSELF! SOME ONE ELSE HAD TO WRITE THIS LETTER FOR ME! YOU'LL GET WHAT YOU DESERVE. KARMA IS A WITCH!

Always hating you,
Polyphemus

Dear Polyphemus,

I think it's funny how big and tough you act! You're not afraid of the Gods? Well you should be. That was the sole reason why they let Odysseus stab you in the eye. They are the reason why you're blind now. You ignored the hospitality rules and now you had to pay for them. How was it finding out that "Mr. Nobody" was Odysseus? That must have slapped you in the face. The prophecy came true. You deserve more than going blind and I hope you get what you deserve. Lastly, tell your father to lay off. This should be your battle. Why are you running to your daddy to take care of your battles? Finish them instead of whining.

Yours truly,
Odysseus right hand man
